Peter Pan Reiki

Some parts of us never grow up.
There is, for example, the part of us that is timeless and ageless, that inner core of our being that exists beyond limitations, that most profound heart to which we return in our daily self-practice.
And there is the child part of us, our own inner Peter Pan.
This part of us can feel hurt or somehow less-than for no rational reason. It can feel so trapped in a rush of negativity that it doesn’t reach for understanding; it just throws blame at whatever or whoever was the catalyst, some outer thing or person it imagines to be the cause of its distress.
Of course, we may need to attend to the outside something or someone that triggers a cascade of negative emotion, but attending to that alone is shortsighted.
Holistic practitioners reach for whole person healing
Holistic practitioners seek to heal the whole person, to rebalance each system from its own inner core. As Hawayo Takata* often said, “Remove the cause, and you remove the effect.”
Such depth of healing is nothing short of transformation.
Transformation takes time, but if we are truly holistic practitioners, we want–we demand–that profound healing for ourselves. We demand it through our relentless commitment to daily Reiki self-treatment and our on-going engagement with the Reiki Precepts.
With thankfulness, work diligently.
Reaching for our own healing every day creates our integrity as Reiki practitioners. This integrity is essential to those of us who are professionals, who are paid to offer Reiki treatment to others. After all:
How can we help others if we are not helping ourselves?
How can we inspire self-acceptance and self-confidence in others if we lack that relationship with ourselves?
And how can our understanding be transformed if we are blinded by emotion?
Today only: gaining perspective on our emotions
Emotions are important, but they’re not a smart foundation for decision-making, because when we are emotional, we don’t see the full range of choices before us.
When we are emotional, we’re not mindful in our creativity, and so even if we succeed in responding differently (usually the opposite of what we used to do or what our parents did), we’re not really healing; we’re just creating more of the same, wrapped in a different package.
That is not transformation.
With consistent daily hands-on self-treatment and constant mindful engagement with the Reiki Precepts, we are empowered to attend to our emotional upset with steady kindness, and release the self-defeating habit of blaming others.
With thankfulness, work diligently.
It takes work to transform our understanding and profoundly heal what truly ails us. It takes discipline. It takes mindfulness. It takes practice. And it does happen.
How has your daily self-treatment and contemplation of the Reiki Precepts enabled you to expand into a new understanding of yourself, of others, and even life itself? Please share your experience in the comment section below.
*Hawayo Takata and her Reiki master, Chujiro Hayashi, brought Reiki practice from Japan to the U.S. in the late 1930s. Hayashi Sensei was trained as a Reiki master by the lineage founder, Mikao Usui.

Daily self treatment has quieted my emotions so much so that now I am no longer blinded by fear or led by anger. Without worry I am happier and open to my intuition. I feel confident.. I am prepared for challenges as they arise and can make clear and steady decisions for myself. I am authentically closer to the people in my life and I know they feel authentically connected to me.

To be clear, I’m not a Reiki professional but a fully attuned practitioner. I first heard of Reiki years ago, as the means a friend had used to overcome the effects of a childhood trauma–being interned behind barbed wire for all of World War II. I self-treated daily for a couple of years, with calming and strengthening results–then realized a couple of provocative things. One, the back of the head position directly addresses the amygdala, a brain area especially in want of healing and reprogramming in the wake of childhood trauma and two, that one of the Reiki symbols can be used during self treatment to address and heal emotional wounds from the past. Maybe everyone else already knew this, but when I added these linked understandings and intentions to my practice, a deeper and more transformative healing process seemed to begin.

It has taken me a few years of daily practice to transform from a person driven by their emotions, (I thought I was being passionate, but I think now it was more like irrational at times.), to a calmer, more contemplative, less reactionary person. The change was so subtle I didn’t even see it coming. A daily practice has made my relationship with myself better and has allowed me to respond to life rather than react to things that crop up. And I agree with Edith, a noticeable authentic connection to what is meaningful.
The Mental/Emotional symbol – Sei He Ki
(Sei He Ki pronounced as: "Say-Hay-Key")
Sei He Ki has a general meaning of: "God and man become one".
The Mental/Emotional symbol brings together the "brain and the body". It helps people to bring to the surface and release the mental/emotional causes of their problems.
Many people (even doctors) are starting to realize that many of our ailments are based on mental and emotional unbalances that we probably are not even aware of. The symbol works to focus and harmonize the subconscious with the physical side.
This symbol can be used to help with emotional and mental healing. It balances the left and right side of the brain and gives peace and harmony. It is also very effective on relationship problems. The Sei He Ki symbol can also be used on diverse problems like nervousness, fear, depression, anger, sadness etc.
The symbol can be used to help heal misuse of drugs, alcohol, smoking etc.
Sei He Ki can be used to lose weight.
The symbol can be used to find things that you have misplaced. (Draw the symbol in front of you and ask for help in finding xxxx. Let go of trying to find the object. The answer will soon pop up.)
Sei He Ki can be used to improve your memory when reading and studying. (Draw the symbol on each page as you read it with the intent of remembering the important parts.)
Add the symbol when doing healing (normal or distance) as this can help the healing process. Many physical problems have mental/emotional roots.
The Mental/Emotional symbol, Sei He Ki, has to do with Yin and Yang and the balance between the two sides of the brain.
The left part of the symbol represents Yang and our left side of the brain (logic, structure and linear thinking etc.) The right side of the symbol represents Yin and our right side of the brain. (fantasy, feelings, intuition etc.) When you are facing another person and draw the symbol the left side of the symbol, i.e. the Yang part of the symbol ends up on the receiver's right side of the brain and the Yin part on the left side thereby helping to balance the two sides.

Reiki works on different levels the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual enhancing everything in life. Reiki is not only one of the oldest healing systems in use; it is also one of the most versatile. This ancient Japanese method of healing uses energy to balance the body and mind, and its benefits can be felt by both Reiki practitioners and their clients. In fact, Reiki is believed to improve just about any aspect of life, from physical health to emotional well-being to stress reduction and mental clarity. Reiki techniques are used to heal the body, mind and the spirit. It has been proven that Reiki can help people suffering from various major and minor ailments. It is often used as a complementary therapy in a number of hospitals today. It enhances the health care the patient receives in both in the hospital and from outpatient health care providers. Reiki has not only helped patients with physical ailments but also helped those with minor psychological problems as well.
One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system), aids in better sleep and improves and maintains health.
Reiki helps bring about inner peace and harmony. It can be valuable tool in the quest for spiritual growth
Reiki also balances the mind and emotions. Regular Reiki treatments can bring about a calmer and more peaceful state of being, in which a person is better able to cope with everyday stress. This mental balance also enhances learning, memory and mental clarity. Reiki can heal mental/emotional wounds, work through dysfunction In more severe situations, Reiki can help alleviate mood swings, fear, frustration and even anger. Reiki can also strengthen and heal personal relationships. Because Reiki enhances your capability to love, it can open you up to the people around you and help your relationships grow. By improving your capacity for empathy, Reiki allows you to connect with people on a deeper level.
Reiki offers relief during emotional distress and sorrow. Reiki helps in the grieving process. It cleans and clears the emotions, preventing them from being so draining and offers perspective.
On the physical level, Reiki helps to relieve pain from migraine, arthritis, sciatica ~ just to name a few. It also helps with symptoms of asthma, chronic fatigue, menopausal symptoms, and insomnia.

Reiki speeds up recovery from surgery or long-term illness. As it helps in adjusting to medicine/treatment, it also tends to reduce side-effects. For example, Chemo-therapy patients who received Reiki noticed a marked decrease in side effects from treatment.
Reiki can be an effective way to treat immediate problems, such as physical or mental illness (recovery from surgery, but regular treatments can also improve overall health. By helping to maintain a state of physical and emotional balance, Reiki can not only treat problems, but perhaps even prevent them from ever developing.
How Reiki Healing Can Help You Release Emotional and Physical Pain

During a Reiki treatment we partake in discovering healing and balance by directly connecting with our source. This source is not some separate location or place of origin, far removed in time and space. It is that which we are in every moment, yet fail to notice because we cling to so many limited concepts about ourselves, most often not even feeling our own presence. Sometimes defeating concepts and beliefs prevent us from appreciating our true nature. Because of their constant agitation we experience mental and physical imbalances, which inevitably manifest as degeneration and disease.
Through the use of Reiki healing, we can prevent ourselves from straying further from the source. We heal ourselves through the direct application of the source’s very own energy in the body. In this way, Reiki heals us from the depth of our own being: kindly, gently, and without undue imposition. If we permit ourselves to surrender and feel the flow of universal life force energy as it recharges our own life force, a Reiki healing treatment turns into a very comforting, nourishing, and pleasing experience. Afterwards we feel more at one with ourselves, more vibrant, and more alive.
Because the mind is contained in the entire body, illness in any one spot is an indication of a specific energetic block. For example, the experience of grief can create arthritis in the joints, and so forth. When you target concentrations of negatve emotional or mental energy with universal life force energy you can help eradicate disease in the body.
To treat a mind with Reiki healing is to liberate the mind from the shackles of long-buried memories, traumatic experiences, and painful emotions. When exposed to the love and transforming power of universal life force energy, these remnants of old traumas and misunderstandings are released. We also cease clinging to them, because Reiki permeates both the clinging and the one who clings. By treating the mind in this way, we express our desire for freedom in practical terms by fully accepting things as they are. When we accept things as they are, we disregard the impulse to try and destroy the ego.
Practising and receiving Reiki always happens simultaneously. It does not matter whether you are the giving or the receiving partner during a treatment; through Reiki attunements we are ceaselessly connected with the immeasurable energy that is the essence of our nature. With Reiki healing, we acknowledge the fact that as manifestations of energy, we are free from the constraints of ordinary time and space. We are actually free to touch anything, no matter how remote in time or space it may appear to be. With Reiki, we are well equipped on a practical level to express the freedom that we are.
Reiki Healing Room
In the healing sessions I use a combination of light touch and no touch depending on the Chakra or area I may be working on. Generally the client is lying face up on a massage table, but Reiki can also be performed with a person sitting in a chair, or even at a distance (to another location). Reiki energy can be received through layers like casts and blankets, so it is never necessary to disrobe in a session. I do recommend you allowing yourself some time/space after a treatment whenever possible.
If you have any questions about Reiki, Distance Reiki, Karuna Reiki® or any other components of the treatments below, please see the frequently asked questions page or feel free to contact me.
